Angeles Plaza, Finding A Bench

September 3rd, 2009

Walking back from MOCA I find myself lamenting over expiration dates. I am at Angeles plaza resting on a bench overlooking the neighborhood thinking of the poetry reading I was just imposed with and the boy’s eyes glowing red and sweating from the fires up highway two and the mushroom cloud and smog and generally, September.

They’ve closed the entire Angeles forest at this point.

Torn between slit throats or a shot to the head or suffocation or being eaten alive or falling tremendous distances or … or …

Sitting on this bench feels nice. It could be better with a slight breeze, though. Perhaps the glaze of morphine, percocet, klonopin … cocaine, even. No. Not cocaine. It’s too fucking hot.

Surviving a slit throat would be close to impossible at this incredible height, anyways.

That drowning and helpless feeling you cannot do anything about should lead to euphoric empathy and a fuzzy longing. This wouldn’t happen for me. The closest I’ve come to this has been the great crash of two thousand and three. Knocked unconscious I felt more offended by the long hair telling me not to move with his stoned demeanor and fidgety disposition. Fuck you, long hair, I was asleep.

All I’ve wanted has been this fuzzy, empathetic, drowning disposition.

Wondering back to the neighborhood I thought about Wye Oak. Then I thought about my friends. Then my failures. Then all of the blood came rushing to my head and I figured I could use something to drink.

Forward-Thinking Packs of Cigarettes

August 11th, 2009

Regeneration and mind-mapping the oblivious has started a spiral of the obvious into complete obfuscation and never looking into the would-have and could-have and forward-thinking packs of cigarettes shared with complete strangers who look more familiar than the conversations from last night.

Cleaner slates.

I think that it’s about time we all figure it out.
